New Producers, exciting wines...

Over the last twelve months we have added some fantastic new makers to our portfolio. We are always in search of serious Burgundy and I like to find new producers making exceptional wine that have not been discovered by the wine press.

This dinner features wines from seven new producers. A couple of the names will be no doubt be familiar but many of these makers have never been seen in Australia before.

What they all have in common is that they are producing exceptional wine.

The dinner features some of my very favourite bottlings. After three interesting whites we have 6 Premier Cru Reds. Domaine des Chezeaux are the owners of some of Ponsot's best known vineyards. The Chambolle-Muisgny 1er Cru Charmes is exactly the same wine as is bottled by Ponsot, but at a fraction of the price. Domaine Michel Noellat in Vosne-Romanee produce classic, aromatic reds from some great appellations. Domaine Henri Magnien is one of my most exciting finds. I love his Lavaux and Cazetiers. I just don't know which I prefer.

The dinner culminates in a bracket of four Grand Cru reds from Drouhin-Laroze and Michel Mallard. From Drouhin-Laroze we have a wonderful comparsion between the Chapelle and Latriceries-Chambertin. Mallard is a particularly interesting maker of very serious Corton Reds. They produce a prestige product, beautifully packaged and held back for over a year before being make available to the trade.
