Lamblin and Fils Chablis Fleur d'Acacia 2020
Landed Price $56.95
Pre Arrival Price $48.50
Case of 12 Bottles $546.70 (=$45.56 a bottle)
There is a specific plot in Chablis known as Fleur d’Acacia. The name derives from the presence of acacia trees that influence the character of the wines. Of course Australia is the home to many acacia trees where we know them as wattle.

Recognizing the unique character of these vines, the cuvee is bottled by a small number of Chablis producers fortunate enough to have plots there.

The base soil is rocky and contains masses of tiny oysters, remnants of the warm and shallow seas that covered the region hundreds of millions of years ago. This gives much of Chablis its wonderful nose and palate.

A singe of struck match introduces this wine but it offers plenty of sun-drenched yellow plum and quince flavors too. Medium bodied and bracingly fresh, it balances the richness of this hot vintage with spine-tingling acidity and a delicately smoky finish. The wine is ready now but should hold through 2027. 92 Points

Fresh in fruit yet invigorating and steely, this ripe but quintessential Chablis highlights zesty, limestone-scented flavors of lemon, lime and green apple. Medium bodied and bracing in style, the wine is delightful young but should improve through 2035. 94 Points

While smoky and earthen on first whiff, this bright-fruited white has a core of lemon and tart white-peach flavors. Moderately full and silky in texture yet gripped by bites of lime and grapefruit zest, it's at peak now through 2035. 93 Points

Initial, yeasty funk clouds bright lemon, chalk and Mirabelle notes on the nose of this wine. The palate then moves that buffered, textured chalkiness center stage. It offers generosity and beautiful concentration, with a roundness that speaks of lemon, stone, freshness and ripeness. This wine is expressive, elegant and very long. 96 Points

Deep, profound nose. Oyster shell, greengage, a hint of the honeycomb I often see in Les Clos. Quite rich and powerful but all about texture and balance. Long, stylish and deep with fruit covering an assertive, yet fine line of acid on the finish.
