An overtly floral and exceptionally pretty nose reflects notes of red currant, dark raspberry and plenty of spice elements, especially star anise. There is excellent intensity to the refined and beautifully well-detailed medium weight flavors that flash evident minerality on the moderately austere and compact but lengthy finish. This is at once classy and quite stylish and like many of the wines in the range, a wine that should age effortlessly.
30% whole bunch. One of the lighter colours, but still a full, attractive purple. White marl, without clay or stones. But there is a sweetness of fruit and a tension holding it in place. Perhaps just a mite less precision, less daintiness than some years.
The 2019 Echézeaux En Orveaux Grand Cru has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of plums and berries, complemented by suggestions of orange peel, sweet soil tones, peonies and spices. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, it's enveloping but vibrant, with lively acids and a precise finish.
