A new grape purchase this year. 40% whole bunch vinification. Rich dense purple despite the whole bunches. Much more in red fruit with some blood orange as well, reflecting the iron oxide rich red soil, and a grainy finish. Very persistent, but quite different in character. Drink from 2030-2038. 92-94 Points
Another fine addition to the range this year is the 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Echanges, a medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless wine that bursts with aromas of raspberries, mint, wintergreen and spices. 91-93 Points
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Echanges 1er Cru is the first vintage from purchased fruit and includes 40% whole bunches. It has a well-defined nose, although it does not possess the concentration of the Les Fuées poured before it. The palate is medium-bodied and cohesive on the entry, with finely chiseled tannins and a keen line of acidity. It meliorates as it goes along, so the finish feels quite sophisticated. Overall, the effect is of an understated but well-crafted Chambolle. (Drink between 2026-2042). 91-93 Points
