Deep red, very bright. Seriously fragrant nose of cherry. plums, roses and violets, truffle, asian spices, vanilla, liquorice. It is quite exotic. It is not the perfume of Musigny but something somewhere between Vosne-Romanee and Morey-St-Denis - spice, flowers and fresh earthy power. On the palate it is crunchy with raspberry acidity on the finish, serious depth from old vines and a saline, savoury tang. Quite crystalline. Bonnes-Mares can at times be a triflle rustic but his has refined, chalky tannins and a long, long finale. Certainly one of the most characterful wines from this Grand Cru I have tasted in recent years. A great Grand Cru.
