*Smart Buys* This red is supple and fresh, showing a mix of dark berry, plum, herbal tea and peppery flavors. Lightly grippy tannins frame the licorice- and mineral-accented finish.

A terrific value that’s close to an even split of Grenache and Syrah (there’s 10% Carignan), from a mix of terroirs in the Agly Valley, the 2014 Haut Cotes du Roussillon Villages les Vignes de Bila Haut was completely destemmed and spent eight months in a mix of concrete tanks and stainless steel prior to bottling. A fabulous value that will be hard to beat as a mid-week drinker, it offers lots of juicy berry fruit, violets, peppery herbs and damp earth characteristics in a medium-bodied, bright, fresh and elegant package.
