This Grand Cru from the great 2015 vintage is less than the price of many current release Premier Crus. And we all know how long Corton can cellar for!
This is a bargain not to be missed.
The 2015 Corton Maréchaudes Grand Cru has a gentle and quite sensual bouquet with lifted raspberry coulis, cranberry and hints of cola developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, a fine line of acidity, crisp in the mouth with a silky smooth finish that renders this almost drinkable at this prenatal stage. I like the piquancy here and it is bestowed with fine length in the mouth. 92-94 Points
In 2015 Maréchaudes has produced a wine bursting with spicy wild berry fruit and incipient forest floor, subtly framed by creamy new oak. The palate has a sweet attack and a bright core of crunchy fruit, while its fresh acids should make it beautifully high-toned in the course of time. But, like most Cortons, it will need plenty. (Drink between 2018-2050). 92 Points
The nose and palate throw forth a complex amalgam of aromatics and flavours; dark cherry, orange peel, smoke, fresh earth. The wine is supremely youthful, loaded with umami and finishing with long, fine tannins and crisp acidity. It is certainly a wine for the cellar with loads of potential – try to wait a decade to see this blossom.
