Domaine Doudet was founded in 1849. The estate owns vineyards in some of the Cote de Beaune's best sites with vineyards in Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses. They include some very old vines.
Organic methods are used and the best vineyards are ploughed by horse.
This is another domaine that has progressed dramatically with the arrival of a new generation. The style of wine remains traditional in the best sense - these are not big, modern, voluptuous wines - they are wines that speak of their terroir and ask for some cellaring to reveal their ultimate character. It is certainly a name to put on your watch list.
In addition to the exciting new wines the domaine has reserve stocks of serious old wines dating back to early last century. Perfectly cellared, these wines present a terrific opportunity to taste serious old wines that have never seen the light of day.
