Domaine Jean Durup

Domaine Jean Durup

The ancestors of Domaine Jean Durup have been winemakers since 1560! Over the centuries the estate has grown and is now the largest in Chablis.

The state of the art winery produces classically styled Chablis without any oak. Austin Biss, author of A Guide to the Wines of Chablis says "Such quality wine making and elevage with the minimum of interference proeuces fine resault - wines of typicite, fruity and flinty, with a flowery aroma and wines that can age well developing a delicious honeyed biscuity nose."

The Durups have an impressive and interesting array of Premier Crus including Montee de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Montmains, Vau de Vay and the sinisterly named L'Homme Mort. They also make a cuvee named Reine Mathilde which is a blend of special 1er Cru parcels.

This is another terrific producer discovered during my trip to France earlier this year and I am pleased to offer the wonderful 2014's.
