Jacques Marchand is the seventh generation of his family to be involved in wine. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin this domaine owns an exciting range of vineyards. Their 9 hectares are spread across 47 different plots! I addition to Premier and Grand Cru holdings the domaine is one the few to bottle a selection of lieu-dits. It was these wines that I found particularly exciting as today the general practice is to blend these vineyards into a generic wine.
It is worth noting that Marchand-Grillot were selected by UNESCO to supply the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin for the process of adding Burgundy to the cultural world heritage list.
